The Dynamic Trio

Max, Hobbes and Mr. Cat are the inspiration for my creative work. They keep each other entertained and their antics keep me on my toes.

Maxwell

Max survived Hurricane Isabel that hit coastal Virginia in September 2003. He was only four weeks old when a cat rescue group found him. Always so cool and collected, I call him my “BatMax” because he can do anything — like leaping (seemingly more like levitating) to high places. Before Hobbes came to live with us, Max had been a “big brother” to three other rescue cats. Now in his senior years, he loves to sleep but can still jump high when he feels like playing.

Hobbes

Always getting into everything, Hobbes truly is a curious cat. I adopted him in summer 2011 from a local rescue group when he was barely one year old. I was saddened to learn that the previous family had rejected him (How could they not want such a beautiful boy?). Nevertheless, the moment he and Max met, they immediately formed a bond. The two are inseparable especially when playing, eating, sleeping, and posing for a picture.

Mr. Cat

Mr. Cat’s story is a mystery. He first started coming around looking for food in the early spring of 2015. He was flea-infested and hungry. His front paws were declawed and his body was riddled with scars and bite marks. He didn’t have a tag on him but I figured he belonged to someone in the neighborhood. In November that year, he returned and “decided” to let me take care of him. He never left my home again and was forever content to be with Max and Hobbes.

These beautiful felines also touched my life and inspired me to become more patient and caring. From left: Momo (2004-2009), Black Jack (2004-2010) and Sherman (1996-2004).
